Desktop vs. Cloud Computing

Desktop computing requires you to have all of your computers, networking and Internet access hardware, printers and scanners located physically in your office. Application software is installed locally. You or your information technology (IT) department are responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, backup and upgrades to all hardware and software that you use to run your business. You must also have systems in place to keep your data secure.

The costs of providing this infrastructure can be hard to measure. Sure, you can plan ahead for a new computer that you want next year, but what is the cost of a disk or server failure tomorrow? ProTracker Software assumes responsibility for maintaining the ProTracker Cloud application, including updates and enhancements. Your client files also reside on the host server, who performs nightly backups of your database and client files.
